Despite the 22-year entry ban related to 'military service evasion,' singer Yoo SeungJun had his visa application rejected again even after winning in the Supreme Court. In response, Yoo SeungJun has filed a lawsuit to cancel the third visa rejection and confirm the invalidity of the entry ban decision.
According to a statement posted on social media on the 29th by Ryu Jeongseon, a lawyer from Beommoobeobin Hyeoksin and Yoo SeungJun's legal representative, the LA Consulate General notified that the visa application submitted by Yoo in February was rejected on June 18. The LA Consulate General stated that "actions taken by Yoo SeungJun since July 2, 2020, pose concerns about harming the security, order, public welfare, and diplomatic relations of the Republic of Korea," as the reason for the visa rejection.
Lawyer Ryu criticized the administrative authorities for continuing to make illegal decisions by ignoring the final court rulings twice, stating that it is not only a human rights violation against Yoo SeungJun but also a serious issue that can undermine the foundation of the rule of law.
