2024 Hallyu Trend: Which Continents and Countries Showed High Interest in K-Food in 2024?

On Feb. 25, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism released the “2024 Global Hallyu Trend Analysis Report” in partnership with the Korea Culture Information Service Agency. Hallyu, also called the Korean Wave, refers to South Korea’s culture.

The analysis reveals the top Hallyu-related keywords, drawn from 680,000 pieces of content across foreign news articles and social media searches between October 2023 and September 2024.

Continents Where K-Food Was Popular in 2024

Many K-Food-related keywords emerged from nearly every continent. Among them, Africa showed the highest interest at 38%, followed by Oceania at 30%, North America at 26.7%. Europe (15.6%) ranked fourth, with Asia (13.6%) and South America (8.4%) trailing behind.
