The recently published 2024 Hallyu Trend report revealed that K-Dramas were popular topics in foreign news articles and social media discussions. Among the many Korean series released from the fourth quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2024, only some captured international viewers.
Notably, one K-Drama was featured in overseas publications almost every quarter. Meanwhile, various shows took the spotlight on social media.

Continents Where K-Dramas Were Popular in 2023-2024
According to the Hallyu trend report that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism released on Feb. 25, all continents (except for Antarctica) showed interest in K-Drama. South America, in particular, recorded the highest coverage of K-Drama content from October 2023 to September 2024. It accounted for 19.8% of the 680,000 content across overseas news articles and social media searches.
Coming in second place is Europe with 17.2%, followed by North America (14%), Oceania (13.3%), and Asia (12.2%). Africa ranked last with 5.4% of K-Drama coverage.
When it comes to the number of reports published, Asia took the lead with 330 pieces. Europe came in next with 233, with North America (115) and South America (71) trailing behind. Both Africa and Oceania recorded 12 reports.
