Netflix has built up an impressive repertoire of noteworthy K-Dramas and films, constantly making expectations from the streaming platform rise higher than ever before. From storyline to casting, everything seems to hit the mark – for the most part. And in the case of action-comedy film, “Officer Black Belt”, it certainly falls under the “most” category. Taking center stage in the main role is the charismatic Kim WooBin as Lee JeongDo and polished veteran, Kim SungKyun as Kim SunMin.
The film follows Lee JeongDo who’s passionate about martial arts and video games. But in general, he will pursue anything as long as it’s fun. One day, he helps a martial arts officer being attacked and quickly subdues a probationer wearing an ankle monitor. Due to his heroics, he is scouted by probation officer Kim SunMin and becomes his interim partner. Over the course of the film, Lee JeongDo finds fulfillment in his temporary work and seeks to become a full-time martial arts officer.
It's a story of laughter, bravery, and self-discovery all in one. But these aside, there’s so much more to “Officer Black Belt” that has made it a resounding success on the OTT platform.
Talented And Proven Main Leads
Since “Officer Black Belt” is a film, it only has a small amount of time to introduce enough backstory and lay appropriate foundation for the plot to build upon. Then, it falls upon the cast to bring the script to life and fully immerse the audience. Both Kim WooBin and Kim SungKyun do an excellent job, as they are two well-respected talents in the field.
