In March of 2024, two worlds collided as SF9's leader, YoungBin, collaborated with virtual girl group ifLANDIES' leader GaOn. Fans were elated at the announcement and eager to see what this collaboration would be all about. Eventually, on March 18, YoungBin and GaOn released their collaboration single 'Purple Sunrise' and to celebrate, hosted a special showcase fan meet-up on the social metaverse platform "ifland".
For those who might not know, ifland is social metaverse app created by South Korea's SK Telecom. It is a virtual world where anyone can create their dream online avatar, decorate their own space called "ifhome", create content, become virtual influencers, and interact with fellow players.
ifland is also growing in popularity as the go-to destination for K-Pop artists to host hologram concerts, virtual fan meet-ups, open fan cafes, and more. So far, artists like Triple iz (project girl group consisting of SECRET NUMBER's Dita, ICHILLIN''s E.Ji and X:IN's Aria), TEEN TOP's Niel, YeNa, TEMPEST, BAE173, KINGDOM, E'LAST, and CLASS:y have created their "ifhomes" on ifland, where they communicate with their fans directly, release exclusive content and so on.
