"There's A Special Connection Between The "League Of Legends" & K-Pop Fandoms," Maria Egan Of Riot Games On Gaming & Music | Exclusive Interview

Cr: Carrie Gifford / Riot Games

The worlds of music and gaming have been creating beautiful crossovers as of late, as the two mediums have found a middle ground to showcase the best in each other.

Maria Egan, the Global Head of Music and Events at Riot Games, is one of the driving forces for the collaboration between both mediums. Spearheading the global music content for all of Riot's gaming, television series, and film projects, she has been the mastermind behind some of the best content for both fandoms.

Some of her latest accomplishments, particularly specific to the K-Pop world, include a partnership with NewJeans for the 2023 Worlds anthem 'GODS', and overseeing the creation of virtual boy group collective HEARTSTEEL (including Tobi Lou, Cal ScrubyØZI, and K-Pop idol EXO's BaekHyun). In fact, these fulfillments and more were well-showcased at the 2023 Worlds Media Day ahead of the "League of Legends" final over the past weekend.
