MOMOLAND’s Disbandment and Departure from MLD Entertainment + New Beginning
For starters, MOMOLAND is a K-Pop girl group that MLD Entertainment formed through the survival program “Finding Momoland.” The agency officially debuted the band in November 2016. It consists of six members: HyeBin, Jane, NaYun, JooE, AHin, and Nancy. The band originally had nine members, including YeonWoo, Daisy, and TaeHa.
After almost seven years of carrying out group activities, the remaining members didn't renew their contracts with MLD. On Jan. 27, 2023, the company officially announced the termination of its contracts upon the expiration period.
Nearly a month later, all six MOMOLAND members uploaded identical photos of handwritten letters in both Korean and English on Instagram. The letters depicted the group's disbandment as they shared their decision to go their separate ways. But they emphasized that even though they will chase their own dreams, they will remain as a team.
They also thanked Merries (MOMOLAND’s fan club) for the precious memories and for staying by their side for the last seven years. They also apologized for not informing the fans about their decision to disband sooner.
Unexpected Reunion of MOMOLAND: Group Signs With New Agency, Inyeon Entertainment
With their disbandment announcement and contract expiration with MLD Entertainment, no one would have expected MOMOLAND to return as a group. But, on April 10, Korean media outlet MK Sports reported that HyeBin, Jane, NaYun, JooE, AHin, and Nancy have all signed exclusive contracts with Inyeon Entertainment.
A representative from Inyeon Entertainment soon confirmed the report. The contract refers exclusively to promotions as a group, with plans for all six members to carry out activities together.

Who could have predicted MOMOLAND's comeback to the K-Pop scene this year? It's definitely one of the biggest surprises in the music world. Naturally, fans are thrilled, but this return also puts a lot on the line, with both possible upsides and downsides getting a lot of attention.
