One of K-Pop's biggest soloists, SunMi has officially marked her comeback with the release of her latest EP "1/6". The EP was released on August 6 and garnered incredible positive attention from fans and critics alike. As always, SunMi is the femme fatale and the queen of the "girl crush" concept and "1/6" is no exception.
Concept
The overall visual concept of the album leans towards a Y2K nostalgia that has become quite the trend with the newtro age. One is instantly reminded of the Hollywood cult classic "Mean Girls" with the title song and evidently, the film is quite the inspiration for this album. However, it soon becomes clear that on a deeper level, SunMi takes a rather playfully dark route, both with her music and her concept.
Two sets of concept photos were released for this EP, each focusing on the two different moods.
The first set of concept photos emphasizes the forlorn innocence of SunMi, especially with the use of the teddy bear as a prop.
Alternatively, the second concept photo set highlights the bold and confident aspect of SunMi perfectly. Besides these, a title poster and a comeback poster were also released.
