“Second Shot at Love” is receiving mixed reactions after the airing of Episodes 1 and 2. Fans on Reddit believe the way the drama tackles alcoholism is disappointing, while others appreciate that the drama does not glorify alcohol, unlike many others.
Some viewers feel that the story lacks a female best friend character, which makes the female lead emotionally isolated and reliant on alcohol. Others say the drama has a similar vibe to "Welcome to Samdalri" while some mentioned it feels more like "Love Next Door" or "Love Your Enemy," which include family dynamics in the storyline.

This contrasts with another Monday–Tuesday drama, Tastefully Yours, which saw an increase in viewership ratings in its second episode.
