Director Ryu SeungWan and actor Jung HaeIn are gearing up to take over the box office this Chuseok holiday with the film 'Veteran 2'. This movie, a sequel to the immensely popular 'Veteran' which attracted 13.51 million viewers in 2015, comes after nine years and tells the story of Detective Seo DoCheol (Hwang JungMin) and the Violent Crimes Unit as they track down a serial killer.
Director Ryu, who created the iconic villain Jo TaeOh in the previous film, has cast Jung HaeIn in the role of the new main villain, Park SunWoo. Jung HaeIn, a "long-time fan of Director Ryu," feels "honored" to be part of this project. Ryu described Jung HaeIn as an actor who "can instill trust" and remarked, "After watching the film, I knew my choice was correct."
Although Ryu initially did not plan to direct a series, he explained that the production of 'Veteran 2' came naturally. He had been considering a sequel since the completion of the original film and even kept the jacket worn by Seo DoCheol as part of his preparations. However, he reminisced with a laugh that he did not expect it to take nine years for the sequel to be made.
