First of all, we would like to note that these views are subjective and in no way tries to demean the value of the dramas mentioned here. 

It seems like Queerbaiting or the teasing of a romantic relationship between characters of the same gender is becoming a trope in K-Dramas these days. While in its ordinary sense, the introduction of an actual queer character(s) is a very welcomed idea, the fact that in many dramas, there is a play of teasing a "coupling" of two straight actors in the guise of being funny or cute is definitely not.

For those who may not know, according to Dictionary.com, the term "Queerbaiting" refers to the practice of implying non-heterosexual relationships or attraction (in a TV show, for example) to engage or attract an LGBTQ audience or otherwise generate interest without ever actually depicting such relationships or sexual interactions. The key phrase we would like to mention here is "hint at but then do not depict". This scenario almost creates a facade to the story, plot, the relationship of the characters, and whatever form of connection viewers could make with them.

Writing this, it is quite understandable how many dramas imbibe this technique into their storylines. With the long outcry for more inclusion and diversity in dramas, whenever a queer character is portrayed in a drama, the interest, and popularity of said drama are also high. This is because there are global viewers who have been requesting for more representation of everyone on the sexuality and identity spectrum for years.
