The cult classic Korean film "Guns And Talks" is getting a K-Drama adaptation helmed by Netflix, and cinephiles all over the world are overjoyed!
For those who might not know, "Guns And Talks" is a 2001 South Korean action-comedy film directed by Jang Jin. The movie follows the story of a group of four hitmen - all of whom are highly skilled at their jobs but not too bright. They are not motivated by some grand evil or noble purpose but instead simply run a private business where anyone can place an order, including students who even get a discount!
Our main cast consists of SangYeon (played by Shin HyunJoon) - the unfazed leader of the group and the brains behind their operations, JungWoo (played by Shin HaKyun) - the explosives expert, JaeYeong (played by Jung JaeYoung) - the sniper, and HaYeon (played by Won Bin) - the maknae and computer whiz. Things usually go according to plan, or more precisely, as per the contract they sign with their clients, detailing the time, place, and method of assassination, but when they accidentally leave a trail behind on a case, they pique the curiosity of the hot-headed prosecutor Jo (played by Jung JinYoung). The group starts to question their morality and decide to take a hiatus, only for them to end up mired in their most dangerous and high-stakes mission yet - to assassinate a politician in the middle of a sold-out show of the play "Hamlet" by Shakespeare. This is an offer they just can't refuse, but it's almost too late before they realize the gravity of the situation.
The film is beloved for its wonderful mix of genres as you find yourself getting attached to a bunch of simple-minded hitmen, and their shenanigans will have you rolling over laughing but at the same time, the action is riveting, to say the least. There's not much to intellectualize here - just pure entertainment at your service and we definitely need some of that in our lives.
Now, if it isn't evident enough, "Guns And Talks" starred a stellar cast of top actors and became an immense sensation following its release. Accolades from critics to awards and commercial success - this film had it all. So, it is quite the big deal that Netflix is planning a K-Drama remake of the same. We can already predict that some big names and talented actors are going to star in this drama to match the popularity of the original, and we cannot wait for more details to emerge.
With that said, Kpopmap picked 16 actors/idols to play the roles of the main characters in the drama adaptation of "Guns And Talks", based on the personalities of the characters in the original.
