Back in 2017, Happyface Entertainment revealed a boy group project called, Happyface Next Boys(HNB). The project was held for 22 months and after a long period of competition, the group was finally narrowed down to 5 members including , , , , and the leader, .
The process of forming a group may have been similar to other idol groups but what the company did differently for this project was that it was constantly updated to the public via VLive.

The group had shown several aspects of becoming an idol to their fans and public, establishing a close relationship with them even before the debut. The group name, “D1CE” itself, is also a result of fan participation as the name was decided through voting (over ten thousand people participated from 108 countries).
And today, the long-held 5-sided dice was rolled as they have officially revealed and performed their debut stage.
