Adapted from Lorne Michaels' renowned American TV show "Saturday Night Live", "Saturday Night Live Korea" (the reboot) is a popular late-night show in South Korea. It mainly comprises comedy sketches and variety entertainment, starring some of the most popular Korean celebrities. Just like its American counterpart, the show has a recurring cast as well as special guests who participate in different sketches.
"SNL Korea" originally aired on tvN from 2011 to 2016. It ended in 2016 after facing heavy criticism for a slew of controversies, including a very serious sexual harassment case after a clip of the cast sexually assaulting B1A4 was released. INFINITE and Block B showed support to B1A4 and spoke up against "SNL Korea" with the hashtag #SNL_์ฑ์ถํ (SNL sexual harassment), revealing that such behavior was rampant on the show.
In 2021, "SNL Korea" was revived by Coupang Play as a reboot, with AStory taking over the production from CJ E&M. This "SNL Korea" has no relation to tvN's "SNL Korea". As such, it starts anew from Season 1. Season 5 was produced by CP Entertainment.
