South Korea is a democratic country since 1948. So in modern days, South Koreans elect presidents. However, there are a few K-Dramas that portrayed Korea as a monarchy with King, Prince, Queen, and Princess. It is one popular theme.
The production team needs to come up with a whole design of outfits and sets to portray a Korean monarchy in modern days. The actors taking on an imperial/royal role have stunning costumes.
