While the K-Drama world is filled with heart-fluttering romances, there are times a change of pace is needed to spice things up. This includes a switch from your typical romantic comedy to a heart-racing mystery. KBS’ “My Perfect Stranger” filled this role perfectly throughout its entire run.
Led by Kim DongWook and Jin KiJoo as its main leads, the series takes the two back in time to 1987. There, they uncover the truth behind a serial murder case that remained unsolved for years.
The drama did a magnificent job in keeping the antagonist’s identity a complete secret until the very end. The moment viewers believed the show’s villain would be revealed, the KBS drama shifted the spotlight, keeping everyone in the dark.
While “My Perfect Stranger” has reached its climactic end, we are still in awe of its captivating story that had thousands glued to the edge of their seats.
And with that said, let’s take a look at some of the plot twists from “My Perfect Stranger” that kept audiences guessing.
Note: This article contains spoilers.
1. Continuation Of The Timeline
While stuck in the past, Yoon HaeJoon (Kim DongWook) and Baek YoonYoung (Jin KiJoo) were determined to not only capture the culprit, but to also save the victims. Although the big bad villain of the series still remained in the shadows, their course of actions truly made them believe that their efforts were enough.
They were certain that the first two murders had all been avoided, luring everyone into a false sense of security. However, as fate would have it, the gruesome events continued to happen, putting everyone from the villagers to viewers at home into a state of complete disarray. This plot twist had fans up late at night, wondering who could have done it.
2. The Baek Brothers' Innocence
For a few episodes, both Baek YooSeob (Hong SeungAn) and Baek HeeSeob (Lee WonJung) were both considered as main suspects. The bloody shirt, HeeSeob’s ironclad conviction to protect his brother, and YooSeob’s absence all pointed to the possibility of one of the two being the antagonist.
While they did appear suspicious, all doubts were washed away the moment Baek YoonYoung found YooSeob, injured and hiding away in an attic. With the two brothers' safety ensured, Yoon HaeJoon was able to confirm their alibi and backstory. This led to proof of their innocence from the heinous crimes plaguing the village. This removed yet two more suspects from the list, leaving viewers scratching their heads for another week.
3. Ko MiSook Turns Out To Be A Witness

There was something sinister about Ko MiSook (Ji HyeWon) that rubbed everyone the wrong way. With most of the suspects taken off the list, she stood alone at the very top as the most likely culprit.
Her obvious distaste towards Lee SoonAe (Seo JiHye), years worth of physical and mental trauma, along with a brother who would be easy to frame, all became suggestive signs that pointed towards MiSook as the series' villain. But "My Perfect Stranger" did what it does best, providing a plot twist that would leave everyone speechless. As it turns out, Ko MiSook ended up being a key witness to one of the culprit's crimes. This fact was essential to uncovering her innocence, but once again shrouded the villain of the series in a fog of mystery.
4. Culprit Reveal

After exhausting all of their options and coming face to face with multiple dead ends, Yoon HaeJoon does something drastic. He decides to do an interview without a mosaic, planting a trap by saying he knows the culprit's identity. This causes the big bad villain to go after him and attempt to silence HaeJoon for good.
The moment that it's revealed Yoon YeonWoo (Jung JaeKwang) is the series' dastardly antagonist, audiences everywhere let out a gasp of shock. His ability to remain hidden right under their noses sends shivers down your spine. You cannot help but replay previous episodes in search of any obvious clues. With his reveal, the case had finally been solved, but the feelings of utter surprise still remain.
While we know the outcome of the thrilling drama, we still remain in utter shock and disbelief.
